With Charles serving as an Army officer and Jordan teaching 5th grade, their relationship grew through seasons of change, including a year of long distance while Charles was deployed to South Korea.

When Jordan later moved to Georgia while Charles was stationed at Fort Stewart, the two spent two unforgettable years living in the Savannah area.
